Decided to review AnoHana i think i haven't seen anime drama like AnoHana in a long time, definitely desereves a post.

AnoHana is basically about a group of 6 friends. They were really close when they were young until Menma died in an accident, since then they have kept their distance from each other. Years later, Menma appears before Jintan, the leader of the group. They figure that Menma has a wish that needs to be granted so that she can go to heaven, so he reunites the group to do so. Its much easier said than done, for each one of them carries a heavy burden from that day. The way the show ends was just perfect, not too cheesy yet not too abrupt either, a good change~

However, the biggest flaw of the storyline is Menma (HUGE SPOILERS HERE). Even though she is a ghost, she comes with a special ability to pick up objects, write and even eat. While the series was ongoing someone commented on twitter that the most painful part of the whole show is that all the disbelief of Menma can be dispelled by her simply picking up an object. >_______< first part was definitely frustrating because of that!

I like mentioned, AnoHana is full of drama, good drama. I think the plot is extremely well developed, every character has a problem/story and it is full of difficult decisions. Makes me feel with the characters. I liked the ending especially because its not just focused on just granting Menma's wish but it also spend time with the characters, healing their scars from back then.

Music was good, loved the OP, but a really special mention goes for the ending. How can anyone not like Secret Base? Plus the title is extremely fitting for the anime. Great song totally, makes me miss ZONE when they were once together TwT

AnoHana is a MUST WATCH. I can't say more than that, its good drama, seriously what are you waiting for? Just watch~

Everyday, Headband

AKB48's newest single is Everyday, Headband. When i first heard the title i thought that it was a really strange name. But when the pv came out i was really impressed.

In the pv, the basic plot is about a group's dream to build a boat and sail away. Its pretty cool, a AKB48 boat. But thats not the most interesting part of the pv. For most AKB48 fans, one thing we should notice is that alot of scenes in the pv paid tribute to previous AKB48 pvs. Such as Iiwake Maybe and Ponytail to Shushu. How many tributes can you spot?

I really find it nostalgic that they used scenes from previous pvs and weave them together into a new story. I do love nostalgic stuff >w<

Oh no, i have to end here. I am looking forward to the AKB48 concert happening this sunday as well as the AKB48 shop opening this saturday!. I will be tehre to experience the event! Super excited!

Hourou Musuko

I haven't had time to blog because i just started my first year at school and now i'm in my 3rd week but i'm awfully stressed >.<

Anyways, so a belated blog post is quite in order today (I'm abit more relaxed today so i'm taking as much advantage as i can of it)

Hourou Musuko is about Shuichi Nitori, a boy who wants to be a girl and Yoshino Takatsuki, a girl who wants to be a boy. They deal with the reaction of people (around them) to transexuality, questioning their gender all while balancing the beginning of puberty.

The content of the show was good, i loved watching how the characters struggles against people's perceptions of cross-dressing and transexuality and by doing that they slowly mature. The issues brought up in this anime are issues that i have come across but have never really given a second thought about and this makes me think (Yes, i like shows that make me think and questions the issues brought up)

I was very attracted to the series by it's art, there is a watercolour look to it. Not only does it look unique and beautiful but it also brings about a calm and a little surreal (the irony lol, since the topics are quite down-to-earth and serious topics)

This is a show i reccomend watching, definity not for those who like action and adventure, its a very tame and slow series that should be slowly savoured. So if you are looking for a break from the usual maindstream animes that make you think and follow the characters as they mature, this is for you!~

I hope i get to churn out another review soon, i really miss blogging XDDD

Majisuka Gakuen

Long time no review~

I just finished watching Majisuka Gakuen. Its a drama starring the girls from AKB48 there are also appearance from the members of SKE48 and SDN48

The show starts off with the two transfer students into Maji High, Maeda Atsuko from AKB48 and Nachu from SDN48 as Onizuka Daruma. Maji High is a yankee school (yankee is equivalent to gangsters) and the top of the school is the gang Rappappa. Daruma comes into the school attracting alot of attention. She beats up the first gang pretty well but by the second gang she is defeated. As for Atsuko, she keeps out of trouble and is mostly seen studying to be a nurse. She also worms at a hospital after school where the president of Rappappa, Oshima Yuko from AKB48 is at. (although she doesn't realize it) Atsuko's true nature is revealed when the word 'Majisuka' is heard, she becomes a great fighter. Upon seeing her strength, Daruma pledges to be Atsuko's underling even though Atsuko dislikes it because she doesn't want to fight and she also believes that she does not need friends. The rest of the series carries on with Atsuko meeting new opponents in Maji High (as well as from the rival school gang, Yabakune) and fighting them while learning that in fighting she can find something important.

If i may be honest, this wasn't the best drama i have watched. I don't blame the production though because fighting scenes are never easy. One can tell by their movements that although they are trying hard, their movements are pretty weak. The story also had holes. Like why did Mayuyu's character not go after Atsuko in the end. And what is Matsui's role in the show? Perhaps the answers would be revealed in the second season.

Good points about this show is the acting. There are those like Rena, Mariko, Mayuyu and Yuko that were really convincing. The best acting of all came from Haruka as Toriguya. Its amazing how she can change from one character to another. Watch to find out what i mean. Also mentions to Daruma and the principle for the laughs. Even in serious shows like these its good to hve characters like those

Overall, i wouldn't classify this as a much watch drama, rather something to watch if you are bored or a big fan of AKB48
And to end off this blog post are the videos

Majisuka Rock n Roll (The opening song of Majisuka Gakuen)

Majijo Teppen Blues (I choose to use the one with English subs because bits of the story are in the dialouge)

Clean Up

I did a blog post clean up. Things like my writing style and even the content of what i write about.

This won't be the only clean up i will have in store for this blog, i plan to clean the template as well.

Cheers to 5 years of blogging and may i continue to blog more in the future~

Broken lives

I guess everyone would know of the awful news going around.

Just a recap. Japan was struck by an earthquake last friday, 11th March. The earthquake was of a magnitude of 8.9. And the earthquake brought on a tsunami hitting Japan hard. Many have lost their homes and loved ones during the tragedy.

My prayers go out to everyone in Japan who is affected. I did not take very well to the disasters, mainly because i had a relative there on a business trip. I heard that she is fine though. Also, Japan is a place i love very much, I was there merely a month ago. I was told that some of the places i was at like Odaiba is badly affected, now i only have the photos that i took, to remind me how beautiful Japan was. I was actually planning another trip to Japan around this time to go see the cherry blossoms. I guess its a good thing that i cancelled the trip so that i could handle my school applications and stuff.

I dont think i have been this affected by a natural disaster, i can feel things have changed even though I am not there. there are some obvious changes like the sudden lack of anime (though thats not my biggest concern) I guess thats how it is when we keep such close tabs on Japan for our entertainment and such.

I have been unable to read the news properly either. I really had no clue how important Japan meant to me till all these happened. I cant read the news without feeling that wave of despair washing over me.

I hope that everyone will keep Japan in their prayers and may the people in Japan find hope as they rebuild their lives.

Miku Day

HAPPY MIKU DAY
This totally deserves a picture, so if i may
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AxG1s0DWuRI/TXdxF406xII/AAAAAAAABdA/qxd0yERs4KY/s320/overflowpsheadgear" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582054609116644482" />
Its not Hatsune Miku's birthday today (It is in August for those who don't know) March 9th, which in numbers is 3/9, which in Japanese is "Mi(tsu)-Ku". So i am waiting for the videos to be uploaded.

Anyhow last year concert videos to share with everyone
First up my handphone ring tone: World is Mine

My favourite Kagamine Rin and Len song: Butterfly on Your right Shoulder

A very popular song from Luka (Just hear the crowds cheer!): Just be Friends

Luka and Miku do a duet: Magent

And finally a medley of songs from Miku

Enjoy!

Bartender

I went to Japan for my Chinese New Year holidays. They happened to be promoting a new drama called Bartender. Yup, it is the drama version of the anime. I also happened to catch the first episode of the drama. It is a different take on the anime, but keeping the same concept. Okay i should be going back to the anime.

Bartender the anime is, as you can guess is about a bartender called Sasakura Ryu who works in Eden Hall in the Ginza district. He is a bartender prodigy who can make the 'Glass of the Gods'. Although he is a genius bartender, he has made one mistake in his bartending career. Sasakura Ryu meet people who comes into the bar with their problems searching for the 'Menu of their Hearts'. With his deep knowledge in the cocktails served, he helps solve their problems.

While Sasakura Ryu is the main character, there is a character that i would consider too large to be a side character but too small to be a main character. Her name is Kurushima Miwa. She came to Eden Hall to find the name of a spirit which she broke. After that, she appears as a side character in the other episodes.

If you ask me, this anime was pretty average for me. My interest was mainly sustained by my interest in cocktails. (Even though i am still underaged haha, i'll be legal to drink by the end of this month though =w=) At the end of every episode, they would show a featured spirit

The story in each episode comes from everyday happenings, so don't expect sudden surprises or anything fantasy. Its really for those with an interest in spirits and time to kill.

Cheers~

Nodame Cantabile

I havent updated in some time. I have been keeping myself busy watching more anime and listening to more akb48. But i have busy with lots of outings as well. And just recently my applications for my new school just came in so i have been terribly busy. But i can't drag the reviews forever so here is Nodame Cantabile.

Nodame Cantabile is about a pianist called Megumi Noda who prefers to be call Nodame. She can play songs she heard once, with a few mistakes here and there. She has a unique playing style as well. She meets Chiaki Shinichi who is also studying piano, he however wishes to be a conductor rather than a pianist. The rest of the series follows both Nodame and Chiaki trying to reach their dreams as a romance grows between them (Which Chiaki first avoids but grows to accept)

Nodame Cantabile has a total of 3 seasons
Nodame Cantabile
Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen
Nodame Cantabile Finale
Once you start on one season its quite difficult to stop >w<

Definitely one anime for music lovers! I love music from violins and pianos and i got just that. (Chiaki is good in both the violin and the piano) But fret not there are other musical instruments featured in the show. There is even a whole orchestra!

Apart from music, this show is also really hilarious. There are many weird characters in this anime. If you think Nodame is strange, watch further to see the rest of the cast

I think this show really emphasizes that theres nothing wrong in being different, yes being different makes it tough to reach our goals but with some effort we become better than anyone can be.

And to end off this post
GYABO MUKYA!

Angel Beats!

Key is fantastic, and so when they announced Angel Beats! i was extremely thrilled.

Angel Beats takes place in a world after death, think of between earth and heaven. There Otonashi meets the Shinda Sekai Sensen, SSS. And their leader Yuri is rebelling against god for her unfair life while she was alive. She battles against Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council.

Mid way through the series the tune changes, Otonashi and Tenshi work together to send the members of the SSS off to the afterlife they deserv,e by fulfilling the desires they couldn't have in their life on earth.

This series is much less tear-jerking than Kanon or Clannad but its still good. There are still a few crying moments. My personal favourite is Yui's. Her final wish was something every girl wants in their life and somehow i guess i could related to her really well. Now i can't listen to the song 一番の宝物 (which was playing in the background of that episode) without having that feeling of sadness.

Apart from the sad moments, the series was entertaining with a mix of vibrant characters and their crazy antics. One of the most popular members in the SSS is TK. Not much is know about him except that he likes to dance and he would randomly say English phrases that may/may not make sense.

I plan to cosplay Angel Beats! during SOY 2011, I will leave you to guess who it would be, please look out for me if you are going!

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu Season 2 and Movie

I watched the movie first before watching the season 2, dont follow my example. Bad example. Well, that isnt the point of the post so on to the real stuff.

Season 2 can be broken up into 3 parts, important part related to movie, roundabout, retrace. Technically the only episode i really enjoyed was the first episode. The Endless Eight was agonizing to watch, i loved season 1 but Season 2 made me question my love for Suzumiya Haruhi. Still, one should watch through Endless Eight like i did, because bits and pieces still make up the story. Finally, the last few episodes show the darker side of Suzumiya Haruhi we didnt get to see in Season 1.

I was really disappointed by Season 2, i expected more from an anime that had such a strong following from season 1. I used to consider Haruhi-ism as my religion too. This is of course due to Endless Eight, and i am sure many would agree with me on that. To be completely honest, it felt like there was a huge lack of effort in putting season 2 together.

One other thing i was saddened by was the lack of a dance sequence in the ending credits. Many would remember the popular dance Hare Hare Yukai. I was hoping that they would create another dance sequence for the ending credits, bit they didn't. Hare Hare Yukai really changed alot of things. People were dance Hare Hare Yukai around the world, even I started out learning Hare Hare Yukai in my dance practises

The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi (aka the movie) was much better, Kyon talked way too much if you ask me, then again the reason why i was so impatient with Kyon was simply because i happened to have an urgent need for the toilet as well. Like i mentioned before prior to watching the movie i did not catch season 2. Still its fine, the movie can be watched and understood pretty clearly (One must have prior knowledge of the characters to fully understand so of the things that happens, watching season 1 proved to be sufficient for me)

It was a good movie and especially liked that Yuki Nagato got the screentime she deserves. She is under appreaciated in the anime i say. The characters were very... fresh, not exactly the same as the series in other words. My favourite bit of the movie is the content, excellent stuff i say. I didn't expect that the movie would turn out in the way that it did and even when it did i thought it was genius.

How to watch Suzumiya Haruhi? Well if you a new to the entire series then go in chronological order (Refer to wikipedia if you don't get what i am talking about) For everyone else who hasn't caught the season 2, watch it quick then watch the movie. But the best solution is still to watch both seasons in chronological order together then top it off with the movie. It doesn't hurt to watch it twice~

Thats all for The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi!~

Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008

I think this is really a good time to talk about this video

From the course of October till now I have been doing a lot of, as i call it Endings. I have been studying at CHIJ (Toa Payoh) for 11 years. From when i was in Primary 1 till Primary 6, then i went on to the Secondary school from Secondary 1 to Secondary 5. 11 years seem so long but they are finally over, put me back by a few years and i was so eager to get out of school. When i reached the end of my final year at CHIJ, i was devastated. The school had became a place where i sub-conciously found comfort in friends and teachers. There were so many things i had yet to do, and now i'm being told that my time is up?

I had my graduation ceremony on 1st October 2010, Children's Day, some might remember it as. I would never have dreamed that i would be the second person (The first being The Chairperson of my class) of the whole graduating cohort to be receiving my certificate, or as we called it, The sign that the school is ready to kick us out. After that was extra classes to ready us for the final examinations, we were privileged to have an new conditioned class room for our usual one was given up to the Secondary 1's for their end of year examinations. The last day of school was like how i usually spent my last days in any class, staying behind to just soak in the atmosphere. One week later it was the O level papers, then the week after the papers ended was Graduation Night or as you may prefer, Prom Night. I had a fantastic time staying with a small group of friends at a hotel. Then fast forward to the 10th of January where the graduated students met up in school once again to collect their O level results, it was the final day that we would be in our school uniform.

On Friday i will be invited down to school once again for a Thanksgiving Mass at 7.30am. This would mark another ending, which is the last time i will ever be invited to attend a school mass.

Sakura no Hanabiratachi was AKB48's first single and Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008 would be the updated version of that single. The video of Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008 shows events that usually happen around graduation time. And when i watched this video some time back, it struck me so much because it was around my graduation time and i was doing a number of silly things to relive my previous experiences just like Maeda Atsuko who kisses the statue in the art room.

A lot of these endings in my life are still fresh in my mind and so it is pretty difficult to watch Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008 without shedding a few tears, but that doesn't stop me from re-watching it time and time again and singing it as well. I guess that is because the atmosphere of the video has the feel of ending. Looking at the video one would notice a orange-ish tinge to it, like it is sunset. Sunset, doesn't that feel like the end? It could also mean that i miss school very much as much as i disliked it from time to time.

Overall i think the video is well developed (taking a total of 10 minutes and 35 seconds) and its a really good video, there is the lack of the usual dance scenes but in this situation its best to be without dancing since the storyline is more important.

I wonder how my next graduation would be like

King of Thorns thoughts and feelings

I caught the movie, King of Thorn recently.
I was warned that it be confusing, but heck because it was confusing, it was the push i needed to go watch it.

King of Thorns is simply about a virus which turns people into stone, to avoid it some people have chosen to go for cold sleep, being forbto sleep for a infinite amount of time until the virus dies down and which they would be awaken. For some reason, when they are awaken there are monsters all over the place which love to om nom nom on humans. Eventually only 7 survive and the rest revolves around them and their inner problems which hinders the group excaping a number of times.

King of Thorns gives out a slight familar vibe, i sensed similarities to Resident Evil at times. Not to mention the cold sleep idea. But overall there was definately still alot of originality on the story. Yes, the story proved to be confusing at times but hang in there till the end and slowly digest the movie.

In fact if you feel lost. Please do go read the manga. Naturally, movies aren't very good at squeezing the whole story in. There are some mentions in the movie, yet they do not seem to link but its all explained in the manga.

The endings of both the manga and the movie are completely different, so i like to suggest catching both the manga and the movie. Which is better in my opinion? Naturally the manga. But if you want to avoid that disappointed feeling some of my friends got, i highly suggest watching the movie then reading the manga like i did.

Singapore CGM Night

Singapore CGM Night was held on the 15th november 2010
i decided to join in the fun with my camera and a few friends.

This CGM Night was organized by Danny Choo, to meet comrades from Singapore. He has organised such meets in other countries as well. This is the first singapore meet (if i am not wrong)

I enjoyed myself but i felt seriously out of place, there were about 5 girls in a sea of males. I mean in such company i naturally started out feeling rather awkward but i somehow managed to talk to some of the people there and of course take a few shots.

Anyways so why am i posting about this now? yes Danny Choo has just updated his blog with the photos taken by others at the event.
I will just leave the link here
http://www.dannychoo.com/post/en/25966/Singapore+CGM+Night.html

And i shall have to turn in soon as i have national exam results to collect tomorrow afternoon
Wish me luck!~

FIREWORKS! AND HI MY SWEETHEART

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU
I hope everyone is enjoying their new years day! For me i just woke up! Haha!

I went out to watch fireworks with a group of friends last night and i had lots of fun!
In fact i think that this is my first time watching New Year's fireworks and it was more spectacular than the Singapore national Day's fireworks (which i have seen many times)
I want to thank to the group of people i was out with, it was good to spend my last few years of 2010 and my first few hours of the new year with friends camping for fireworks and eating after that.

I want to thank the people who have made my 2010 a great year, im sure those special people will know who i am refering to. I am very grateful to have them since they are always looking out for me and most importantly they always keep me smiling and happy! Thank you! I hope to have a great 2011 with everyone. I also look forward to meeting more people in 2011

So what are my plans for 2011?
First my results are coming out in exactly 10 days from now! >_< i believe it would be a life changing experience for me as i have stayed in the comforts of a single-gendered school for 11 years. No i do not have a problem with the opposite gender, my cosplay friends are MOSTLY of the opposite gender. Its simply that a single gender school has a very unique atmosphere that both gender school can replicate. Going out to a completely new school this year, which means that i would be separating from many friends. I wish them all the best in all that they do. For myself i hope to get myself in a course that i would enjoy, so i hope my results would be good enough.

I have set a few cosplay plans prior to 2011, Macross Frontier, Black Rock Shooter, Pandora Hearts, Touhou, Angel Beats! and Umineko characters are in my plans this year, and not forgetting Hatsune Miku as well. I will do more photoshoots for the cosplays i have as the same time.I main idea for this year is to complete the plans that i have been wanting to do for the longest time. I hope to meet more people in the cosplay scene, i have met many new people in 2010 and that number increases due to my entry into a photography. I hope 2011 would provide me ample opportunities to practise and improve my skills. It isn't going to be easy because i have to balance both cosplay and photography, especially in the financial sector but i hope for the best.

For my blog, i think i will stay here. i decided that i will keep up on writing my thoughts on things im done watching
like for anime, once im done with the whole season ill write a review. So i can keep up with everything.
I will try to post some of my photography stuff and some cosplay stuff here, i want to be more involved in this because during my year away from blogging, there were many times i missed blogging.

So here i am spending my new years day watching a taiwan drama, Hi, My Sweetheart. A very sweet but sad show. For those who love dramas give it a watch. It is only 14 episodes long and not worth missing.
In a brief summary, it is about a guy who goes to university in Hangzhou under a false name. There he meets a girl. However, on the day he was going to tell her truth, she never made it to their meeting place. 3 years later, the girl becomes a radio DJ and is still searching for him on her radio show. The guy's character has changed dramatically after that incident as he felt that she never really loved him. Then, he hears her voice on the radio and the whole drama takes off.
If you love romance especially those with heartfelt feelings, this is definately the drama to catch.

Have a plesant year ahead!~

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://scatteredlives.blogspot.com/2010/12/fireworks-and-hi-my-sweetheart.html' title='FIREWORKS! What to write about? I love writing and i need a theme to stay on focus. And thus eliminting emo posts
2. Whatever it be that i will write about has to be something i dont have to commit too often.
3. What will happen to my da journal and this blog?
4. Should i stay with blogger? The reason why i no longer post videos or pictures is because i hve complains about them lagging the whole blog very badly and more importantly move where?

Pretty much lost most of my readers because of all the lousy posts during the national exam year. So i figured the best time to do all this is around now. Although now with other social network, like facebook i can keep my nonsense there and at bay so really i want to do something about this. Also with a phone upgrade i am blogging more.

This blog has served as rambling groubds for far too long, i guess this is a sign of me trying to find a little patch to personalize and call my own. This blog had changed its aims so many times till there isnt an aim and there isnt any motivation.
I guess in summary i would like a place to talk about my views on certain things which then is leaning towards the arts, cosplay, anime area
Im not looking for a huge following just the old usual small crowd of readers. I have nothing to prove really.
Oh hey i answered my question one lol

Will definately figure out something soon lol.

My slice of akb48 in singapore

Its a really late post but its now or never
(like the many other posts i say i would do but i never do)
So when the recently passed afa was going on karei was at the concerts
(3rd year of concert-ing at afa!)

The artists were fantastic
(i got the handshake and autograph poster from JAM Project amd Scandal, in summary, i love being a cosplayer (in fact one of the very few cosplayers) to meet them. Yes i make a great reaction with my costumes >w<)
Ichiro Mizuki was as enthusiastic as usual
As Yoshiki Fukuyama promised at afa 2009 he brought JAM Project with him this year bearing awesome music
Hatsune Miku made a last minute appearance, i did some serious leek waving again
Angela gave a super powerful performance with their well known songs
Scandal kept me on my feet with their awesome performance
May'n blew me away like she did the last 2 years
but i find that the most memorable concert goes to AKB48

i admit that i havent been a akb48 fan for very long
I started off when a friend posted the video to Ponytail to Shushu on facebook
I was captivated by their music instantly and that started my crazed search for akb48 music

Why do i like akb48?
I like good music and thats what i felt akb48 was producing. Majority of their songs are really catchy but they also have beautiful slow songs like Sakura no Shiori. (The costume planner for that music video was genius, the clothes went along very well with the music) which showed off their awesome vocals.
There was also the great dancing which captivated me, it led me to try to pick up River, which im still trying to master.
Akb48 is a very unique idol group, they are theatre-based and have their own theatre in Akihabara (which i hope to drop by in my next trip to japan) this interesting concept was what perked up my curiousity. If you have watched Oogoe Diamond or Iiwake Maybe music videos, you can see them doing so pretty smooth acting.

Anyways i first heard that they were coming down to stgcc, at that time i just thought that it was only going to be a meet the fan session or to me it translated as no performance and i decided to give it a miss. Perhaps the akb48 fangirl in me had not gone on overdrive mode yet, but there were times i wondered if i would regret it.

Then along came afa, announcing that there would be a akb48 concert, at this point i jumped into action to order my concert tickets. And although the ordering opened at 12 and i ordered only a few hours later i was put to the middle, i would have loved to be nearer to them >w<

The concert was too good to be true. I slowly learnt some of the basic akb48 cheers (and if anyone feels generous enough to tell me the rest of the cheers, that would be great!) and i had so much fun. Their set list was mostly made up of songs that i was famailar with. I pretty much screamed with all my voice at their first song River which i was already half-way through learning. One of their encore songs was Ponytail to Shushu which delighted mr as ypu know it was the first akb48 song i heard. Even songs i wasnt familiar with caught on to me and i enjoyed myself. My absolute favourite song for that day was Heavy Rotation, the song, the dance moves and the cheering went together very well, till now when i listen to that song i can still imagine the cheering.
AKB48: I WANT YOU!
Crowd: I WANT YOU!
AKB48: I NEED YOU!
Crowd: I NEED YOU!
AKB48: I LOVE YOU!
Crowd: I LOVE YOU!
AKB48: Atama no naka
Gangan natteru Music
Heavy Rotation
i shouted the "I LOVE YOU" part the loudest lol. I did love them for their music >w<
Back to topic, i enjoyed myself throughly at the afa concert and i was actually really reluctant to leave but eventually i did.

Fast forward to stgcc day 1, friday.
I was down for the solo cosplay competition as Ranka Lee Seikan Hikou version from Macross Froniter. I lost to Unicorn Gundam from maomao and shinji but they were too epic and i respect what they do so no hard feelings. Lol.

I caught the akb48 stage performance. Sad to say i felt a tad bit disappointed because there were only 3 girls and they only performed 2 songs but what happened after the stage performance redeemed it all.

I was below stage and it just so happened that The 3 girls were being escorted by security (backstage i presume) and we we saw each other the unthinkable (at least to me) happened. They started calling to me "Ranka! Ranka!" and i waved to them with a smile then they said "Ranka! Kira!!" and i 'Kira-ed' to them as they moved off. It really made my day.

The 2nd day of stgcc, saturday i was down as Ranka Lee again. The day was uneventful and i decided to go into the convention hall to support the patapon team for the group cosplay competition at the request of my friends in the team, just as i crossed the convention hall half way, my phone rang. The phone call from my friend h0rse was like super unexpected. He had an unwanted AKB48 Meet The Fans Session ticket and asked if i wanted it. I had to decide asap because the event was going to start. I jumped at the chance and after quickly wishing them all the best and sorry i couldnt be there, i ran to find h0rse, get my tickets and rushed to the event place to join other fellow akb48 fans.

Upon entering the theatre we were given a postcard with the Chance no Junban promotional photo, most of us would have never guessed the significance of the postcard. Yes special postcard is special but most of us just thought it as JUST a momento, how wrong some of us were. In the the theatre, akb48 music videos (mainly Alive and Chance no Junban) were being screened while waiting for the girls to come out. While waiting i (finally) asked the guy beside me how did he get the SGP48 shirt (SGP48 is the Singapore AKB48 fangroup, from the little i know lol) i was dying to get one for myself (sadly the batch order for the shirt closed 1 day after i went to the site to get it, my heart was broken instantly. But i will hold firm for the next batch order! If there ever is)

Overture signaled the start of the concert and everyone jumped to their feet. I was so ashamed at that moment, since i got the ticket last minute, i had no time to dash down to get a lightstick. But all that was forgotten when akb48 walked onto stage and i enjoyed the evening away. While the concert was structure very similarly to the afa concert (some songs were even the same. Like the first song performed was River lol but familar songs were great. I screamed Heavy Rotation when they brought their microphone stands out. Still love the cheering) there came a unique twist. The girls sang some of their songs (i recall them being Oogoe Diamond and Bingo!) in english. I was touched by their effort in english. One could tell how bad their english was, they even wrote notes on their palms so they could take a peek at it, so CUTE!!

One thing i find special about akb48 concerts is the coordination and determination of the encore cheers. After the last song we shouted as loud as possible for an encore (pronounced as ON-CORE-RU). you can hear the togetherness of it. Many if us would be shouting till we are out of breath. We would take a quick minute to rest before continuing with the rest of the people there. To describe it, its lije really great teamwork and the shouts never wavered until the girls are back on stage.

At this encore, the girls mentioned that they were chosen for their new single, Chance no Junban by Jaken-pon (in translation. Scissors, paper, stone. Sounds familar?) and they wished to play that game with us. The winners of the gane would receieve an autograph poster which bears their Chance no Junban promotional picture.

How to play?
Remember the postcrds given out when we entered the theatre? On the back is a strip of black with one of the 3 symbols, scissor or paper or stone. I got stone. So i hoped that the girls would throw out scissors because tone beats scissors. The girls decided what they were going to throw out and the game commenced
JAN
KEN
PON

their hands showed the scissors sign... And i screamed in joy
So everyone with the postcard with the stone symbol could collect their posters outside the theatre when the concert was over.

There was a hi-5 session upon leaving. Row by row the audience got up, walked up the stage hi-5 with the girls and walked down stage to the exit. A very nice way to end the concert i must say. When it was my turn i caused the same commotion as i did the day before except on a larger scale so it went "Ranka Ranka! Kira Kira!" I decided to do both the hi-5 and kira with them, needless to say it made things slower and security stepped in to hurry me. But at that moment i was so proud to be a cosplayer i even paused to do one last KIRA!~ before i ran off stage to the exit.

I wish that akb48 would come back again soon, but chances of that happening is pretty slim at the moment. (i want Atsuko and Mariko yo come down!!) still i am contented by the chance to catch them twice in singapore and i finally jave an awesome momento to bring home. I feel like laminating it >w< lollollol

Anyways let me end this post to those who made my akb48 concert going very enjoyable
My mum for panicking with me as we were stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the afa akb48 concert, i didnt choose to go early just so you know. That day was my last o level paper, who knew that it would have ended so late? Thanks for sending me too
Khai for waiting for me to rush there in case they closed the doors on me
H0rse for the free stgcc ticket, i have no idea how he knows i like akb48 but thanks so much, eternally grateful!
Everyone who was waiting for me, only me after the stgcc akb48 concert just for dinner. Well, I just got the O level card from kosmo. I was super super beyond shocked and everything when I saw so many people all wishing that I will do well during O’s. I haven’t stopped crying since.

I had a really really bad week, a really really bad paper today. As of yesterday, I am officially overworked, the signs of an overworked karei has already appeared [Headaches, Back pain, fever, sore throat] It was such a bad timing to be overworked, I had biology paper the next day and my biology has never been good because I fail very badly at memory work. The fact that I was overworked especially with a headache meant that studying was gonna be a challenge. I don’t function very well under a headache. So I decided to sleep the night off and continue the next day.

The night wasn’t any better, I was exhausted but I couldn’t sleep. It was such a crappy start to the day. Then when I finally fell asleep, I woken up 3 hours later not feeling any better by my pissed off mum because she insists that I didn’t study enough and being sick was an excuse [I think she is wayyy more tense than me] So, what to do but drag myself out of bed to the books. I studied double hard on stuff that had a super high chance on coming out/stuff I didn’t know very well. Couldn’t push much into my head when my head was in pain but I managed to pick up some new stuff.

Went to school, friends were also cramming as much as possible, we were somewhat unprepared for our paper because our teacher didn’t really teach us earlier, the last 3-5 chapters were pretty last minute and they were those super chim chapters. Some of us were super blur, dunno which to study for.

Eventually we got ourselves into the exam hall and I realized I forgot to bring a jacket to combat the winter temperature in the hall and I was praying damn hard that my hand won’t turn numb and be hard to write in the middle of the exam [happened in prelims, social studies gahhh ._.] Opened the paper and attempted the paper, silently screamed in frustration that all the new things I managed to push into my head was not tested at all. I was really crushed, I didn’t know what to do and I just told my self to give up [ironically I still trying to answer the paper then] Wanted to sleep so badly, headache was not helping either, was the only idiot in the hall freezing. Managed to squeeze out as much information on the paper I could as possible before time was up.

After that I rushed to get cloth and rushed to the tailor for afa costume which I had completely forgotten about. [In the process, I discovered that there were no more shoes my size in stock for my afa costume, again I raged but raging does not make shoes drop down from the sky so I stopped after awhile] The tailor was so not happy that I sent the stuff in so late, but she said that at least I got through the worst papers before coming to see her and she understood my situation. And finally after a long day, I reached home.

I got the card from kosmo in the night and after such a crappy week and an extremely horrible day. I couldn’t do anything but cry, I have been so frustrated, so hurt and so alone. I thought that no one cared about my feelings any longer; so long I reached their expectations. I also thought that you people left me behind because I couldn’t go out as much the whole year. I clean forgot that everyone [including some people I see who wrote on this card but I thought completely forgot about me] is still supporting me. I have no idea how I forgot. And I feel so stupid because today, because today, I just felt like abandoning whatever is left. And it’s so stupid because this is the only paper that I didn’t do that well. As for all my other papers, they went so smoothly. I can’t believe it took one paper to throw me off track.

I know this isn’t enough but thanks everyone; I’m going to work hard on my last 3 papers, ill stop crying in about 10 minutes I guess, got loads of stuff to let out.

Thanks again
You people are awesome
Karei really loves you all!

Karei's taste test of the Black Rock Shooter OVA

I haven't been talking about anime for a long time
I was suppose to talk about Angel Beats when i completed it
but i have been very very busy.
So why talk about BRS OVA when im so busy?
Simply because the ova was a different from what i expected
not that that is a bad thing~

The BRS OVA is about two girls Mato Kuroi and Yomi Takanashi, or who we better know as Black Rock Shooter and the Deathmaster respectively. How did they become Black Rock Shooter and Deathmaster is for you to watch and find out.
[I would be giving out some spoilers, inevitable, after all this is a review]

To me, the OVA was lead by emotion. For me, familiar emotions.
I could really relate to Yomi.
The scene when Yomi was in a melancholic state while Yuu and Mato were happily chatting brought back the feelings i had when i was in Yomi's place.

What made my heart drop was the scene after that when both Mato and Yomi were on the train. Yomi's pained reassurance to Mato that she was alright when she really wasn't.
I started to tear.

I managed to finish the OVA without crying a river, but what really impresses me is how the production team could bring out that feeling of lonliness which i can still feel whenever i think of the OVA. Good job!

Onto a more cheerful aspect, I found the lack of dialouge which is especially prominant in the beginning to be very refreshing. It gave the OVA a very down-to-earth feeling during the 'reality scenes'
The lack of dialouge was also present in most of the action sequences.
I thought that it was quite pleasant because it seemed to enhanced the atmosphere of the scenes for me, particularly so for the scenes which BRS stretches out her hand to the Deathmaster as well as the scene which the Deathmaster licked her claws.

I found the story to be quite fluid, in terms of building the relationships between the charcters.
They also broke up the action scenes and scattered them thoughout the OVA, a very clever move i must say. Keeping the action sequence together could make the show dull and predicatable. The separated action scenes kept me eager for more and increased my curiousity about what would happen next.

There was also something that made me unsatisfied.
Although the story was pretty smooth, the extra characters like Strength and Black Gold Saw seemed super redundant to me.
Don't get me wrong, their appearance made me excited, but it became quite a disappointment when it seemed that all they were there for was to fill up screen time.
I felt that it would be best if they had a reason or connection to the storyline. If not, the plot revolving around the two girls would be sufficient for a 50 minute OVA

After watching the OVA my next question was
CLIFFHANGER???
Considering the appearance of Strength and Black Gold Saw as well as Yuu's position in the final part of the OVA, i believe there could be a continuation.
But would it really happen, is a question that only time will tell.

Overall, the BRS OVA is awesome, all BRS fans shouldn't miss it for the world~
<img width='1' He mysteriously dissapears after that, and leaves only the name Hakuron. Next thing she knows she's been kidnapped from her school, and is on a private jet with that man, heading to Hong Kong. It turns out she saved the life of the most infamous mobster in Hong Kong, and he wants her to stay with him and become his lover.

unlike the mangaka's other works, i would say this is the most tastefully done and tear-jearking story she has done thus far
seriously at chapter 33 i have cried sososososo much
okay show why this manga deserves so much love is because
i dont really cry when reading mangas except absolute boyfriend, animes would increase somewhat the chances of tearing because emotion can get through more easily
and
usually i would cry closer to the end of the story, or at the peak of the story where something huge happens
but since chapter 20 something i have been crying non-stop

it goes something like this
*reaches crying sections*
*cries*
*computer dies*
*stops reading and thus stops crying*
next day
*continues*
*cries again*

yes its just too sad
if romeo and juliet was super tragic, then, this is beyond the boundaries of literature tragidies

if i had to describe this manga i would say that its like a ship, swaying back and forth in the choppy sea.
AND POOR FORON I <3 JUU, JUU TOO SADLY AWESOME
sorry, must fangirl
oh foron is the crossdresser of the group and part of the love pentagon or whatever number of people are involve
YES I SAID LOVE PENTAGON OR WHATEVER, ITS LIKE MANY MANY PEOPLE
you think the channel 8 dramas like the little nonya or your hand in mine is complicated
you havent read this

on facebook today:
Karei Faith Fredricka Tan sometimes forgets how lonely the world can be, even with the people you think you can depend on, because they will walk off at that moment when you really need that hug and kind word

why today?

this afternoon i saw something heartbreaking
a girl about my age stepped into a car
somehow her head was hit both left and right by the car door and the car door frame thing
in pain she cried out
whether the driver reacted it is unseen but the driver attempted to drive off stopping only because the car door was opened
the closed the car door and the car moved off with the girl sobbing uncontrollably
i know that the driver knew the girl for a long time
they were close to each other
but then again why was there no comfort given to her?
is it because they had a ridiculous misunderstanding that morning?
that girl, you people who are reading this knows her
i have known her for almost 17 years
i know that she will never cry out like this
it was very painful
how can you ignore that rare cries for help
he who knew her as long as i did
how could you

you know
i dont get myself
i pray to god and thank him for giving me a family and friends
but time after time i realize that family and friends are only an illusion
yet i welcome them back with open arms
believing in the lie that im not alone because i have them
then again and again i am abandoned when i cry out in pain

what i saw today made me take a good look at 2010 thus far
i realized that i am forgotten
i realized that i am unwanted
i realized that no matter what i do, i dont do it well enough
i realized that no matter if i am innocent, blamme gets pushed to me
i realized that nothing is certain, fixed, confirmed
i realized that i have been deciving myself only to make others look good

look people dont know how to appreaciate whats infront of them
whether they got it out of their own hard work, luck or just off the rack [you get what i mean]
they want something they cannot get

look people dont know how to see what really cares for them
they look at things that they can never achieve, and their actions cause only hurt to the people around them

look people who want their way and cannot have it any way around
they think you can meet the demand, when you cant, you ask for help, they insist on getting what they want throwing a temper and shouting

look people who can only whine and complain about others
you are not perfect, people on the oher hand whine and complain about you too, but you dont get it at all, in fact NATO much
<br failed suicide attempt you will say you did it for who and who, get a life please

look people who vent their anger on the innocent
you think the world revolves around you is it? so when people try to be nice but unknowingly triggers a bad memory you get angry with them

look people who excape their responsibilities
want something just for the benefits it gives yet not doing your share of the work, making broken promises, you dont deserve it

look people who make sweeping statements
you dont run people's life, you dont decide their pay nor their actions. you think you are so great so loved dream on please

how much ugly things i have seen since 2010 has started
I wonder if you noticed

To the nice girls who are overlooked, who become friends and nothing more, who spend hours fixating upon their looks and their personalities and their actions because it must be they that are doing something wrong.

This is for the girls who don't give it up on the first date, who don't want to play mind games, who provide a comforting hug and a supportive audience for a story they've heard a thousand times.

This is for the girls who understand that they aren't perfect and that the guys they're interested in aren't either, for the girls who flirt and laugh and worry and obsess over the slightest glance, whisper, touch, because somehow they are able to keep alive that hope that maybe... maybe this time he'll have understood.

This is homage to the girls who laugh loud and often, who are comfortable in skirts and sweats and combat boots, who care more than they should for guys who don't deserve their attention.

This is for those girls who have been in the trenches, who have watched other girls time and time again fake up and make up and f*** up the guys in their lives without saying a word.

This is for the girls who have been there from the beginning and have heard the trite words of advice, from "there are plenty of fish in the sea," to "time heals all wounds."

This is to honor those girls who know that guys are just as scared as they are, who know that they deserve better, who are seeking to find it.

This is for the girls who have never been in love, but know that it's an experience that they don't want to miss out on. For the girls who have sought a night with friends and been greeted by a night of catcalling, rude comments and explicit invitations that they'd rather not have experienced.

This is for the girls who have spent their weekends sitting on the sidelines of a beer pong tournament or a case race, or playing Florence Nightingale for a vomiting guy friend or a comatose crush, who have received a drunk phone call just before dawn from someone who doesn't care enough to invite them over but is still willing to pass out in their bed.

This is for the girls who have left sad song lyrics in their away messages, who have tried to make someone understand through a subliminally appealing profile, who have time and time again dropped their male friend hint after hint after hint only to watch him chase after the first blonde girl in a skirt.

This is for the girls who have been told that they're too good or too smart or too pretty, who have been given compliments as a way of breaking off a relationship, who have ever been told they are only wanted as a friend.

This one's for the girls who you can take home to mom, but won't because it's easier to sleep with a whore than foster a relationship; this is for the girls who have been led on by words and kisses and touches, all of which were either only true for the moment, or never real to begin with.

This is for the girls who have allowed a guy into their head and heart and bed, only to discover that he's just not ready, he's just not over her, he's just not looking to be tied down; this is for the girls who believe the excuses because it's easier to believe that it's not that they don't want you, it's that they don't want anyone.

This is for the girls who have had their hearts broken and their hopes dashed by someone too cavalier to have cared in the first place; this is for the nights spent dissecting every word and syllable and inflection in his speech, for the nights when you've returned home alone, for the nights when you've seen from across the room him leaning a little too close, or standing a little too near, or talking a little too softly for the girl he's with to be a random hookup.

This is for the girls who have endured party after party in his presence, finally having realized that it wasn't that he didn't want a relationship: it was that he didn't want you.

I honor you for the night his dog died or his grandmother died or his little brother crashed his car and you held him, thinking that if you only comforted him just right, or said the right words, or rubbed his back in the right way then perhaps he'd realize what it was that he already had.

This is for the night you realized that it would never happen, and the sunrise you saw the next morning after failing to sleep. This is for the "I really like you, so let's still be friends" comment after you read more into a situation than he ever intended; this is for never realizing that when you choose friends, you seldom choose those which make you cry yourself to sleep.

This is for the hugs you've received from your female friends, for the nights they've reassured you that you are beautiful and intelligent and amazing and loyal and truly worthy of a great guy; this is for the despair you all felt as you sat in the aftermath of your tears, knowing that that night the only companionship you'd have was with a pillow and your teddy bear.

This is for the girls who have been used and abused, who have endured what he was giving because at least he was giving something; this is for the stupidity of the nights we've believed that something was better than nothing, though his something was nothing we'd have ever wanted.

This is for the girls who have been satisfied with too little and who have learned never to expect anything more: for the girls who don't think that they deserve more, because they've been conditioned for so long to accept the scraps thrown to them by guys.

This is what I don't understand.

Men sit and question and whine that girls are only attracted to the mean guys, the guys who berate them and belittle them and don't appreciate them and don't want them; who use them for sex and think of little else than where their next conquest will be made. Men complain that they never meet nice girls, girls who are genuinely interested and compelling, who are intelligent and sweet and smart and beautiful; men despair that no good women want to share in their lives, that girls play mind games that girls love to keep them hanging.

Yet, men, I ask you: were you to meet one of these genuinely interested, thrillingly compelling, interesting and intelligent and sweet and beautiful and smart girls, were you to give her your number and wait for her to call... and if you were to receive a call from her the next day and she, in her truthful, loyal, intelligent and straightforward nice girl fashion, were to tell you that she finds you intriguing and attractive and interesting and worth her time and perhaps material from which she could fashion a boyfriend, would you or would you not immediately call your friends to tell them of the "stalker chick" you'd met the night prior, who called you and wore her heart on her sleeve and told the truth?

And would you, or would you not, refuse to make plans with her, speak with her, see her again, and once again return to the bar or club or party scene and search once more for this "nice girl" who you just cannot seem to find?

Because therein lies the truth, guys: we nice girls are everywhere. But you're not looking for a nice girl. You're not looking for someone genuinely interested in your intermural basketball game, or your anatomy midterm grade, or that argument you keep having with your father; you're looking for a quick fix, a night when you can pretend to have a connection with another human being which is just as disposable as the condom you were using during it.

So don't say you're on the lookout for nice girls, guys, when you pass us up on every step you take. Sometimes we go undercover; sometimes we go in disguise: sometimes when that girl in the low cut shirt or the too tight miniskirt won't answer your catcalls, sometimes you're looking at a nice girl in whore's clothing - - we might say we like the attention, we might blush and giggle and turn back to our friends, but we're all thinking the same thing: "This isn't me. Tomorrow morning, I'll be wearing a teeshirt and flannel shorts, I'll have slept alone and I'll be making my hungover best friend breakfast. See through the disguise. See me."

You never do. Why?

Because you only see the exterior, you only see the slutty girl who welcomes those advances. You don't want the nice girl.. so don't say you're looking for a relationship: relationships take time and energy and intent, three things we're willing to extend - - but in return, we're looking for compassion and loyalty and trust, three things you never seem willing to express.

Maybe nice guys finish last, but in the race they're running they're chasing after the whores and the sluts and the easy-targets... the nice girls are waiting at the finish line with water and towels and a congratulatory hug (and yes, if she's a nice girl and she likes you, the sweatiness probably won't matter), hoping against hope that maybe you'll realize that they're the ones that you want at the end of that silly race.

So maybe it won't last forever. Maybe some of those guys in that race will turn in their running shoes and make their way to the concession stand where we're waiting; however, until that happens, we still have each other, that silly race to watch, and all the chocolate we can eat (because what's a concession stand at a race without some chocolate?)

Sometimes the nice girl gets sick of waiting.

By Jessica Leigh Griffith
jlg421@psu.edu
Copyright 2004-2005 by Jessica Leigh Griffith

this was posted long ago in 2008
and reading this
makes me think
people say its stupid to wait and to keep on waiting
the way i see it and after reading this i hope you do
its a noble feat
i have been there done that, well not every single point
but some
and while somme people cant understand why imm so touched even though i am asian
its because if you look past the american context
the same story is continuing everywhere in the world
guys, just sometimes dont get it
nice girls are not far away
they are right beside you
and sometimes its too late when they realise

i believe that if you turn the context around, change the girl to boy
it does happen too, i have seen it
guys waiting for girls who are oblivious to them

someone mentioned that he cant understand why people wait, instead of just confessing
well, the other party can be shy
that being the general excuse
but if you think about it
wouldnt it feel nicer if you just realized the fact?
that theres been someone waiting for you
and you are not alone
or
how about the other party who constantly feels intimidated
knowing that the girls/boys you chase are in an entirely different world from the other party
thats true, i know

well, i guess thats it
i hope it opens the eyes of someone reading this
because its really sweet as well as true

Reading

since my computer is down [finally] i was deprived of anime for awhile until recently
but while waiting i kept myself well entertained reading mangas
all manga are currently uncompleted and most of the are shoujo manga except one
the shoujo manga are:
Boyfriend
You're My Girlfriend
Faster Than A Kiss
while the other manga is Liar Game

Out of the shoujo manga, faster than a kiss is just so awesome
background story: A girl and her little brother loses both their parents, sick of staying with relatives she drops out of school and they run away. Her teacher comes to find her, eventually marrying her.
Question played over in the book is, Does the teacher really love this student?
The teacher is super cool! Art is awesome, as expected of a shoujo manga and it more comedy and romance

Liar Game is a more upbeat manga. As the title states its about a game called Liar Game, where you do alot of lying. Sounds easy, except that you are playing with 100 million yen. Should you lose this money in the process you are 100 million yen in debt. Enter Kanzaki Nao, foolishly honest, definately not a strong player but with the help of an ex-con, Akiyama she scrapes through each game.

This manga is fresh and interesting. it makes up for the poor art. Once i start to read i cant stop reading. For those who cant stand the art style, there is the drama version with Erika Toda as Kanzaki Nao. The performance in the drama is well done
very worth the watch,

Universal Bunny Mini Album

i changed by blog music to the Universal Bunny Mini Album
all in order as mentioned below
enjoy~
fufufu~

Universal Bunny, a new side to the galatic fairy

Okay i finally got my [home manicured] hands on the latest Sheryl Nome album while i was ondring around the internet looking for eien ni, one of the songs in the album
How did this start?
Well, every once in a while i would have this self proclaimed Karei's get music spree
i was supposed to get music for seitokai no ichizon, k-on! and kuroshitsuji
but i somehow ended up with more hur hur

For those who still dont get it This is the Macross Frontier:The False Diva movie's mini album
so what does this album hold?
1.
